    “In wenigen Minuten ist man am Fischerei- und Fährhafen von Freest, in dem es sehr gute gastronomische Angebote für Familien gibt. Der hinter dem Hafen befindliche Sandstrand ist herrlich ruhig. Der im Ort befindliche Edeka-Markt hat im Juli und August auch Sonntag früh geöffnet, sodass man sich mit allem nötigen eindecken kann. In Spandowerhagen gibt es mit Ausnahme des Werksverkaufes einer Fischräucherei leider keine Einkaufs- oder Gastromöglichkeiten. Dies liegt aber daran, dass der Ort extrem klein ist, deutlich unter 300 Einwohnern. Man merkt an der Umgebung, dass diese langsam aus dem "Nachwendeschlaf" erwacht und touristisch immer mehr Bedeutung gewinnt. Wer nicht auf die mittlerweile doch extrem teure Insel Usedom will, ist hier perfekt aufgehoben, zumal man mit dem Auto nur etwa 35- 40 Minuten braucht um nach Karlshagen oder Trassenheide zu kommen wenn man nicht im Greifswalder Bodden sondern in der offenen Ostsee baden will. Die Strände in Freest, Spandowerhagen und dem daneben gelegenem Kröslin oder Lubmin sind sehr gepflegte Sandstränge. Das einzige Manko für passionierte Schwimmer ist der doch sehr lange Lauf ins Wasser bis man Schwimmtiefe erreicht hat. Im Gegenzug macht es dies für Eltern mit kleinen Kindern, sehr entspannt, da man gut 50 Meter laufen muss bis bei einem Erwachsenen das Wasser oberhalb der Knie steht.”
