“Siniscola is not just the town itself, it is an agglomeration of many beautiful small vilages near and along the coastline. The nearest beach (between Santa Lucia and La Caletta) is 15 minutes by car and highly recommended.
On Sardinia, you *absolutely* need a car and a navigation system. The island is very rugged and mountainous so you can rarely travel from A to B in a straight line. Before going on vacation, we downloaded the whole map of Sardinia using Google Maps (on an android tablet) and used this for offline navigation. It worked perfectly.
The coastline east of Siniscola is stunningly beautiful and there are dozens and dozens of pristine villages (= no discos, no tall hotel buildings) and beaches. The beaches themselves are super clean and the sea water has the beautiful colour of aquamarine and emerald. What surprised us most was how relatively quiet the beaches were. Tourism is still in its infancy here. Parking is free in most places.
If you have the opportunity, do book one of the 1-day mini cruises along the Golfo di Orosei starting from La Caletta. You'll see some of the most incredibly beautiful beaches in the world that can't be reached by car.”
