This is how holiday rental owners described Peyia
Peyia (Pegeia) Village you will find banks, restaurants, taverns', supermarkets and shops it is one of the most popular and picturesque villages in Cyprus, it has an attractive cistern-fountain in the middle of the village square.
The original Peyia village was a small, stone built community of farmers whose crops ...
show more were mainly bananas and oranges. Over the last 20 years Peyia has grown in strength to be the Municipality of Peyia, governing the area from Akamas Peninsular in the west to the edges of Paphos on the east side. Paphos is only 15 minutes by road from Peyia village and Coral Bay resort is only a few minutes drive away.
Popular area of Peyia include the Sea Caves which are cracks' and joints in the strata of the chalky rocks that the waves have opened over time to created a labyrinth of caves. Until recently the caves were home to seals. Further north-west from Peyia Agios Georgios with a small settlement of cafes, restaurants and a few isolated dwellings. There is a fishing shelter and a few colourful fishing boats .
Coral Bay which is known as the Beverly Hills of Cyprus is a relatively small resort, but has plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and banks etc. It has the best sandy award winning beach in the Paphos area known locally as Corallia beach, which is ideal for swimming and water sports or just soaking up the sun and relaxing at one of the friendly bars
Polis and Latchi are about a fifteen minute drive from the villa Polis is where Aphrodite bathed here with Adonis.
Paphos has a pretty harbour where one can still see the ancient Roman breakwater. Around the harbour are many taverns and bars. There are many archaeological remains such as the House of Dionysos which has a fine mosaic floor. There are several old Greek churches, and The Tombs of the Kings, which are ancient burial places, are just outside the town. Sub-aqua diving is available from several companies along the sea front.
Golf can be played at Aphrodite Hills golf course this is approx 1hr away the course features the following.
18 holes, Par 71/70, 6232 metres. Carved out of groves of carob and olive trees on two high plateaux divided by a ravine; the championship standard course opened in October 2002 overlooks the Mediterranean with all but a few holes, enjoying superb sea views. There's double ended 350 metre practice range, also offering 4 target greens with accompanying bunkers. For those who only have time for a short practice round, there are 3 academy holes (1 Par3, and 2 Par4). On hand are 2 resident professional golf instructors.
Last but not least the 19th hole has a superb clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant and bar overlooking 18th hole.
Also there are two non-member 18-hole championship golf courses both in the Paphos area - the Tsada Golf club, part of the historic Stavros tis Minthis monastery, and the Secret Valley Golf club.
