The giant oak of Niedergurig is a regionally known tree and a natural monument.
It is located a little south of the village on the Großer Ziegelteich. Their age is estimated to be 700 to 800 years.

It was built in 1883 for the 400th birthday of Martin Luther.
From Gottlobsberg you can get to the small dam of the Bautzen reservoir, which was opened in 1980. Here you can enjoy the view over the reservoir to Bautzen and the mountains of Upper Lusatia.
