In Istro you find different kinds of beaches, both a pebble beach (on the west side of the village) and sand beaches with some beach chairs and umbrellas on the east side. These beaches are relatively quiet and still sort of unspoilt, although many of the people that have an accommodation in Agios Nikolaos come here to enjoy the beach. This is because in the town of Agios Nikolaos itself there are no really large or good beaches (they are more intimate and cosy).The best know beach in the Istron area is called Voulisma Beach or Golden Beach. It is a beautiful and long sandy beach, where you can rent sunbeds. Because it is so popular it can get quite busy during the high season. The area is peaceful and green with olive groves, vineyards, orange and lemon trees. The main road runs through the village of Kalo Chorio. The area near the coast is known as Istro or Istron, but sometimes those names - Kalo Chorio and Istron - are simply exchanged.     “Traumhaftes Gruppenerlebnis mit Meerblick abseits des Trubels Positiv: Moderne und saubere Villa, komplette Ausstattung, schöne Zimmer, ruhige Lage, sehr angenehmer Poolbereich, großer Gemeinschaftsraum. Sehr freundliches Personal. Negativ: In den Zimmern fehlt leider eine Ablage für Koffer bzw. ein Stuhl für die Kleidung. Restaurant: Faros - Grillrestaurant direkt am östlichen Strand mit Windschutz. Bemühtes Personal, ortstypische Speisen, unbedingt probieren: Sepia auf Fenchelgemüse Ausflüge: Lassithi-Hochebene - Rundfahrt: Anreise von Malia im Norden über den Ort Krasi mit der größten Platane Europas, zurück nach Osten Richtung Agios Nikolaos. Zeus-Höhle besichtigen. Achtung: viele Serpentinen.”

    “Das Haus ist ganz neu und top ausgestattet. Es gibt 2 Schlafzimmer & insgesamt 3 Bäder, sowie den Wohn-Essbereich. Das Haus & der Außenbereich waren sehr sauber und gepflegt. Durch die Hanglage kann man bis zum Meer sehen. Trotz der Reihenhausanordnung (oberstes von 3 Häusern) hat man im Außenbereich komplette Privatsphäre. Der Verwalter vor Ort war sehr nett, hilfsbereit & hat alle Fragen schnell und kompetent beantwortet.”
