In the vicinity lies Søby Sø and a child-friendly beach. In Søby Brunkulslejerne there is a former brown coal mining area with white sand peaks and red ocher brown coal lakes. In Herning there an Exhibition Center, a playground for children, a mall and selection of restaurants. There is also a cinema (the films are shown in original language with Danish subtitles).
