Stretching from Rio Tejo to Rio Mondego on the Atlantic coast, Estremadura, with its abundance of valleys and rolling hills, has long been the agricultural heartland of Portugal. Nowadays the coastal region is known as the Portuguese Riviera and is home to some of the country's finest beaches.

The best time to visit Estremadura
In Estremadura the summer lasts for 6 months, between May to October. During these months, holidaymakers can enjoy a blazing sun with average temperatures of 22°C. However, if you are travelling between June and August, you should know that temperatures can exceed 40°C. Winter is also a good time for a holiday rental in Estremadura. Between November and April, the weather is milder with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 19°C with December and January being the coldest months. With its many monasteries, castles, historic villages and vineyards, not to mention the miles of sandy beaches which bless its coastline, a holiday rental in Estremadura is a popular choice.
