Two holiday houses with a terrace, on a steep slope in mountainous surroundings
The complex is located in Agaggio per Glori near Molini di Triora in the Argentina Valley, in the mountains of Liguria. It is on a slope in a small mountain village, with breathtaking views.
The two separate holiday houses are joined by a terrace. They were built on a steep slope, and so the entrance on the rear side is on the same level as the village pavement, while the front entrance lies two floors lower and is accessed from a different pavement. Every single window, the outdoor terrace and the courtyard afford breathtaking views over the valley and the mountains. The interiors are simple and primitive, with many original rustic features, particularly in the less modernised of the two buildings, which may not appeal to all tastes.
The house to the left is on three residential floors, each measuring 40m², with a kind of step ladder linking the lower two floors. The ground floor has a large master bedroom and a bathroom with a shower, washbasin and toilet. The middle floor has a large bedroom with two single beds and space for a third bed. There is also an entrance, living and playing area that leads out onto the terrace. There are board games, also for children, other games and a basic CD player in the bedroom. The top floor has a small kitchen with a small washing machine, as well as a spacious dining room with a fireplace. A general storage room with firewood and a portable petroleum stove are available. Each floor is accessible from outdoors.
The second house, on the right, has two 30m² residential floors and a cellar, which is used as a storage room and for the boiler. A small, but modern kitchen opens out onto the courtyard. Behind that there is a bathroom with a shower, washbasin, bidet and toilet. A hallway with shelves leads to the second terrace, with spiral stairs leading to the upper floor, where there are two bedrooms with a double bed, or with a single bed and space for one or two extra beds. Both kitchens have medium-sized fridges with freezer compartments, as well as kitchen utensils and shelf space. The more modern kitchen has a gas stove and oven, while the older kitchen is equipped with an electric stove and oven. The upper kitchen is next to the dining room.
Three fenced, west-facing terraces afford breathtaking views of the valley and the sunsets over the mountains. One has a small herb garden with a tap and a hose, and a long wrought-iron garden bench, as well as a roofed area with a stone bench and a covered storage space. Wooden and plastic chairs and tables are available and can be kept outside during your stay. Parasols are also available.
50 metres away there is a washing line on an open plot of land, where one can also set up the garden furniture in the morning to enjoy the sunrise. There is some bedlinen in the rooms, but if many guests are coming it is advisable to bring more with you, especially in colder months. An additional bed is available in one of the bedrooms.
Note, with regard to the colder months, that there is no proper heating, only wood-burning stoves, fireplace etc and not in every room.
Cars can be parked at the end of the road, about 50m from the house. This road from the village below is steep and windy, and should not be attempted after dark, or in bad weather.
This is an exceptional place for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from tourist hubs. The main activities include mountain hikes in the Ligurian Alps, exploring this exceptionally beautiful valley, and river swimming. The Ligurian coast is a 45-minute drive away and Nice airport is 1.5 hours away by car.
