Thatched house with a terrace by the lake, ideal for nature and water lovers
The little thatched forestry house is an ideal and snug retreat from the stress and hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is 115km to the north of Berlin, amidst the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte in Neu Canow, providing everything nature and water sports enthusiasts could wish for.
The house was built in 1986 and fully renovated in 2012. It is like a witches’ house with 40m² of living space on two floors. It has been charmingly furnished and provides everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The ground floor has a shower room, an open kitchen and a living room with a flatscreen TV with a satellite receiver. A fireplace stove ensures pleasant warmth on cooler evenings. Under the roof there is the bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200cm). A third person could sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. A little junior bed can be provided for a child.
The terrace is ideal for having breakfast. And if the sun is too strong or rain threatens to dilute your coffee, you can move the table under the shelter of the cherry tree. If you enjoy sports, you can go hiking, cycling, swimming or paddling, or convert the garden into a badminton court. Alternatively you can just relax there and soak up the sun.
The house has a little wooden dresser with homemade jams, liqueurs, cake, shortbread and other delicacies.
Gobenowsee, which is part of the Seenplatte and is only separated from the house by a horse paddock, is an excellent starting point for extensive exploratory tours by kayak or canoe. If you enjoy swimming, you can stroll in a bathrobe in the morning to the swimming spot and take a refreshing dip to the sound of birds twittering. Hiking and jogging routes start right nearby, and cycle paths, including the route Berlin-Copenhagen or the Müritz circuit, lead past the house, providing perfect conditions for conquering the Mecklenburgische Seeplatte on land. There is a basic grocery shop in Wustrow 3km away, as well as a restaurant and a place to hire boats. The next largest locality is Wesenberg 9km away with a Netto supermarket. Neustrelitz is 19km away and has further shops and many cultural amenities. Rheinsberg is also 19km away and in summer you can spend wonderful evenings there at the castle opera house followed by a visit to a restaurant. On Saturdays there is a weekly market there, where you can purchase regional produce in a historical setting.
