Monteverdi apartments, nice holiday accommodations with swimming pool and breathtaking view

Monteverdi is a tiny medieval village at 350 meters above sea level, whose origins date back to the 8th century when the Palazzuolo monastery was built.

It is a quiet place, where one can relax and enjoy stunning views. It is located on the hills along the Etruscan coast, at 27 km from Marina di Castagneto Carducci and Donoratico, famous beach villages. Bolgheri, world-wide famous for its wine, is at 30 km. Some other beautiful and interesting medieval towns such as Volterra, Massa Marittima and Populonia (Etruscan ruins) are at 40 km. Pisa 90 km.

The property is located at 250 m from the village (where there is a restaurant, bars, a food shop and a chemist’s), and it consists of 2 buildings, each with 6 apartments. At guest disposal are a swimming pool (10x6 m, open May- Sept) and a car park.

    “Sehr sauber, guter Zustand der Wohnung, Duschvorhang unzureichend( wenn man nicht aufpasst, überschwemmt man beim Duschen das Bad)
    Bettlaken und Handtücher wurden oft gewechselt. Sehr freundliches Personal vor Ort.
    Sehr kleiner Pool mit Badekappenzwang :-(
    Kleine Anlage aber doch ein wenig laut.
    Grill war nicht vorhanden, obwohl in Beschreibung aufgeführt.
    WLAN über Mobilfunk äußerst dürftig.
    Küchenausstattung ziemlich dürftig, nur eine kleine Espressokanne (so dass wir jeden Morgen mindestens 4 Mal Kaffee gekocht haben), kein Kochlöffel, kein Salatbesteck, für 4 Personen etwas zu braten ging nicht au einmal, da die Pfannen zu klein waren.
    Großer Kühlschrank mit großem Gefrierfach.
    Alles in allem: Licht und Schatten.”

    “Mooi onderkomen met prachtig balkon en uitzicht. Ruim opgesteld, prima ingericht. De matrassen van de kinderen in het stapelbed waren iets minder, ons bed was prima. De luiken voor de ramen zorgden ervoor dat het heerlijk koel bleef. Het douchegordijn vinden we zelf minder prettig, maar verder een prima douchegelegenheid. Er waren geen koffiezetapparaat of waterkoker, maar wel een espresso percolator en water koken kan ook in een pan. Dit appartement is er 1 van meerdere, naar ons idee niet allemaal van dezelfde eigenaar.

    Wat we jammer vonden, was dat er bij de schriftelijke informatie vermeld stond dat de eigenaren allerlei talen spraken. De eigenaren hebben we niet gezien, alleen Karla en een meneer voor het onderhoud. Zij spraken alleen Italiaans. Waren ons zeer ter wille en we kregen vaak schone handdoeken en lakens, maar qua taal hadden we het handig gevonden om de eigenaren ook een paar keer te spreken. Zeker omdat die indruk in de informatie vooraf werd gewekt. Er werd gesproken over een wijnproeverij omdat de eigenaar wijn zou maken, maar dit hebben we uiteindelijk niet gedaan omdat we geen idee hadden waar dit zou zijn. Wel jammer omdat we daar van tevoren erg zin in hadden.

    Het zwembad was heerlijk, fijn om zo dicht bij te hebben. Over het algemeen was het niet heel erg druk en konden we heerlijk genieten van zwembad en ligstoelen en parasols bij het zwembad. Als Nederlanders zijn we het niet gewend, maar badmutsen waren gewenst. Deze werden ons verstrekt bij aankomst.

    Halverwege was er een Wifi-probleem, dit leek eerst aan ons verbruik te liggen. Ons was vooraf niet bekend dat daar een limiet aan zou zijn, maar werd uiteindelijk opgelost. Al met al een erg fijne vakantie gehad!”
