This beautiful cabin is located on the Bakketun farmstead, high and free above the Sjoa gorge.

Here you have a breathtaking view of the mountains and a good starting point for activities ranging from cosiness in the hut to extreme sports in the great outdoors. The water in the hut is spring water from a depth of 120 metres. Heidal is the village on the wild river Sjoa between the national parks Jotunheimen and Rondane, Peer Gynt and Kristin Lavransdatter. The fjords of Western Norway can be reached on day trips. The village is one of the best preserved in Norway with over 100 protected houses, living traditional culture, local crafts and high-quality regional foods such as the famous Heidals cheese. Hotel Heidal has a local butcher's shop. Thanks to the Norwegian rafting centre, Sjoa has become internationally known as Northern Europe's best rafting river. Within the municipality of Sel, trout fishing in the river is free, otherwise you need a fishing licence in the many fishing waters.

The magnificent wildlife includes moose, reindeer and large birds. The Glittersjå visitor farm is home to tame moose, primitive sheep, wild boar and other exciting animals. You can see alpacas 5 kilometres away. A short walk up Gardfjell and you have a view of the mountain Heidalsmuen opposite and overlook three national parks at the same time, Dovrefjell being the third. A neighbour offers a horse-drawn sleigh ride, which must be arranged with the owner in good time before arrival. You can see alpacas about 5 kilometres from here.
