Whole House in Selca with Lockable Garage and Unique View
This detached single-family house made of natural stone stands alone on the island Brac in a bay ten metres from the sea, with its own wooden jetty and mooring. It can only be accessed by boat. The owners take guests there by speedboat on arrival in ten minutes and collect them there again on departure day.
The 5000m² site is in a bay right by the sea and has several sea-view terraces, as well as a grill station (firewood available free of charge) and a dining table with a bench. The terrace with a grill in front of the entrance area, with access to the kitchen, is roofed. Apart from passing boats, nobody can be seen and you are completely undisturbed. The only two neighbouring houses are out of site and rarely occupied. The house has its own mooring for anchoring and its own access to the sea (rocky beach and since April 2016 an extended wooden jetty right above the water of around 30m²). A motorboat of 5PS or more can be hired in addition through the owner upon agreement. Guests can be instructed in driving the boat and anchoring etc. The outdoor car parking space is safe and free throughout your stay, or there is parking available on request in a lockable garage at a supplementary charge. Pets are allowed.
The rustic Dalmatian natural stone house with a sea view was fully renovated in 2013 true to its original style and furnished charmingly and tastefully. The interior is simple and stylish. The solar-powered beach house in a stand-alone location provides all the necessary comfort and convenience, such as electricity and hot water. The house has a bedroom with a double bed (200cm wide), a bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin (owing to the solar electricity, no hairdryer can be used) and a living and dining room with a sofa (bed) for two people, satellite TV, a dining table with a bench and an open-plan kitchen, equipped with a two-ring hob, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a gas stove and an espresso pot. Free Internet access is available throughout the accommodation. A rolling gas radiator can be set up for example in the living room, to heat the whole house. Since autumn 2017, the house offers a wood stove and a hot water tank in the cooler season. As a result, the house offers all the comfort and hot water throughout the year, which is available around the clock, regardless of the solar operation. The gas powered hot water tank is located on the outside wall of the house and is extremely easy to use. Sufficient firewood is available for free.
The bay carved 500 metres deep into the karst affords a unique view of the sea and the pristine nature, as well as providing the opportunity for fishing, swimming, hiking etc. Not far from the bay there are further secluded bays and pebbled beaches (Spiljice, Zirje, Hrvatska with a restaurant), all accessible by boat. From the Selca petrol station, from near which there is usually the boat transfer, you can take the car to further shops (grocery shops, butcher, market square, pharmacy, ATM, doctor, hairdresser etc.). From here you can explore the whole island with its places of interest, such as the famous beach Bol and the highest of all Adriatic island peaks. The picturesque centre of Selca has a bistro and shop specializing in local olive oil, with a sampling room.
Owing to the special stand-alone location of the house, some restrictions must be noted: please use water sparingly (shorter showers, do not wash dishes under running water). The house cannot be accessed by car. The owners recommend leaving your car at a suitable parking space in Selca, followed by the boat transfer. The house can also be accessed on foot along a steep path in the bay. You can also park your car above the bay 300 metres away. Overland, Selca and Sumartin are each 3km away. In the German travel magazine “Geo Saison” in April 2015, an article several pages long about this house was published as the title story about Croatia. The owners Kole and Irena live in the nearby town Selca (3km). They lives in Germany and Austria for many years and speak good German. They are there for you not only in emergencies, but are happy to provide advice on arrival and during your stay, for example with regard to logistics (food supplies, car parking etc.). They regularly dispose of rubbish or can bring fresh groceries (fresh bread, eggs, butter, meat, fruit, vegetables etc.). Upon request (surcharge), the host can arrange a trip by speedboat with driver. The water is crystal clear and so you can see any unevenness, water plants etc. under water, so swimming footwear is not absolutely necessary. There are no dangers lurking in the underwater flora and fauna of the Adriatic. On the cover of the magazine Geo Saison Extra, September issue 2016 is one of the terraces of the House with sea view shown. In it appeared repeatedly the article from the above mentioned "Geo Saison" in April 2015.
